Trick or Treat!

For Sera it was definitely a treat. Her first Halloween was spent in our subdivision going from house to house. In our small neighborhood almost everyone participates in the fall ritual. Our little bumblebee saw so many new children she didn't know what to do with herself. As we walked from house to house, we ran into people we know but rarely see, including the other two Chinese children in our 38-home subdivision. Sera already knows Paige well, but this was the first time she met the other girl. Ironically, her parents are also teachers. It really made my night to see Sera so excited. She ran most of the way through the trick-or-treating, but finally started to wear down after an hour, and her hands were like ice, so we decided to call it a night.

A year ago, no one could have adequately described the joy of being a father. This is the best thing I have ever done.
